In order to prevent the influx and long queue to immigration, the Thai government introduced on the 8th of April an automatic extension of visas for foreigners blocked in Thailand, an extension until 30 April 2020.
This measure is aimed at foreigners who arrived in Thailand before the closure of the borders whose visa would have expired on 26 March 2020. Their visa will be automatically renewed until April 30.
The fine of 500 THB/day for overstay is therefore no longer applied.
As soon as the borders are opened, the tourists concerned will have 7 days to leave Thailand or take the necessary steps.
Furthermore, the formality of extending the 90 days was also postponed to 30 April for the holders of the visas concerned.
